Night School & Study Hall
see you June 6th
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy & pleasing to God—this is your true & proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test & approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing & perfect will.
Romans 12:1-2
What is Night School?
Night School takes pride in being a bit nebulous, but loosly speaking, it's a call to action for the Young Adults of Portland starting June 6th.
The thought process is this: what if we offer more of ourselves to God this summer and just see what happens? 🗓 Class Schedule
Every other Thursday at 6:45-8:45PM @ 831 NE Fremont St. Portland, OR
What to Expect:
Worship
Sharing
Discussion
Prayer
What is Study Hall?
Study Hall is a way to create space to renew our minds by reading together as a group of people. You can invite literally anyone. It happens on the off weeks of Night School.
The first Study Hall is on June 20th.
Here's how it runs:
We show up at 6:45PM, chat for a second, get some coffee or tea, put our phones in a pile away from us (if you want to), and just read a book (any book you want) for an hour. Then at the end, anyone who has read something they believe to be beautiful or insightful can read an excerpt outloud.
📚 Recommended Reading List We're inviting people to read 1 of the 6.
You can also read anything else that you want, but it's an invitation to read these books in conversation as a community.
*If for any reason cost is prohibitive, let us know and we'd love to buy you a book!
Who's on the mic this summer?
Drew & John C. We are supposed to explain who we are in this blurb, and I think it is safe to say that we are both people who live in Portland and like/love Jesus.
FAQ
What is the goal for Night School?
Jesus calls all of us to pick up our cross and follow Him. Each of us has a very specific role to play in that revolution. What is your role specifically? No one can tell you but Christ.
The goal of this isn't to be big. It isn't to change the city. It isn't to create a new ideal to follow. The goal of this is to clear out everything that gets in our way of Ephesians 3:14-21, knowing the love of Christ and the power that comes through. The aforementioned things might flow out of knowing the love of Christ, but it isn't the goal.
